It took great courage to let Clara go. It doesn’t diminish the long-standing connection and laughter you shared when she did breeze into your life. Now you can move forward without the recurring cracks and breaks. Also sorry to hear about Ana. I lost my daughter Aix. Thank you for sharing this story of friendship and loss. Your fellow bereaved Mom, Julie

Oh Jacqueline, this was a heart-melting (and heart-breaking), riveting, and meaningful post to read. I hung on every word. There are reams of books written about divorce, but so/too few written about platonic friendships and the grief and hard-to-unravel complexity we experience when they end. You did such a beautiful job here honoring the beauty and the healing of laughter this friendship gave you both, and the reasons why your lives could not sustain it. You are forever changed and you honored the seasons. All things come apart, but we are blessed by the coming together despite that. Thank you for your writing, I enjoy it so much.
