Your doctor's insights should be part of all doctors' medical training. Hearing something wise and thoughtful like that early on in our journey would have been very helpful for us.
Jacqueline, thank you for sharing the words of Ana's doctor—powerful wisdom from Dr Elisha Waldman. May I share this article in my publication? I'd like to include it in two anthologies I've curated: the Cancer Anthology, and the Bereavement/Grief Anthology. Have a look. If you have a few words of introduction that would be great. Thoughts?
I'm AIDS demographic & had 2 perfect gay friends die from it last century, in what was then a battlefield of deaths. Last weekend of 1 friend's life, as his parents awaited arrival of his siblings to say goodbye before before having him unplugged from life support, was coincident with annual global international AIDS conference in Vancouver, 1996. No idea how many kind, caring, well-meaning individuals brought in headlines from the Globe & Mail (coincidentally where my friend worked) baring headlines announcing the AZT Cocktail - we had a cure! Not for my friend, his family, his loved ones & so many others. Too little, too late.

Thank you for sharing all of this. So beautiful.
Your words always touch a chord in my heart. Maybe even a cord (the line between life and death). Thank you. 'Berta
